Tour overview
Barcelona tastes better than it photographs, and this four-hour walking tour is built around that idea: two very different markets, on foot, with your guide leading the way from stop to stop. First stop is La Boqueria, the market every guidebook photographs, with a pintxos tasting worked in along the way. Then it's on to Santa Caterina, quieter and more local, the kind of market where the neighbourhood actually shops, before settling in at a nearby restaurant for a proper sit-down meal of Spanish and Catalan dishes.
Tapas, something sweet, and a few drinks are folded in throughout the walk, so you leave full, not just informed.
The itinerary
5 stops, in order.
Meet your guide in central Barcelona
The tour begins with a quick introduction to how Barcelona eats before you head to the first market.
La Boqueria Market
One of Europe's great food markets: stalls of fruit, seafood, jamón and produce just off Las Ramblas.
Pintxos bar tasting stop
A stop at a pintxos bar for three pintxos, the northern Spanish small-bites tradition of toothpick-skewered toppings on bread.
Santa Caterina Market
A second, quieter market under its famous wave-shaped tiled roof, favored more by locals than tourists.
Final restaurant stop
The tour ends at a restaurant near Santa Caterina for Spanish and Catalan dishes and drinks, tasted alongside the group.

Questions and answers
Will I get enough food to count as a full meal?
Yes, between the market tastings, three pintxos, tapas and the final restaurant stop, most guests finish the tour comfortably full.
Can this tour work for someone with a food allergy?
Tell your guide about any allergy before the tour starts so tastings can be adjusted at each stop where possible.
Is La Boqueria worth visiting if I've already walked through it on my own?
Going with a guide is a different experience: you get pointed to specific stalls worth trying and context on what you're eating, rather than just walking past.
What's the difference between La Boqueria and Santa Caterina?
La Boqueria is the famous one, busier and more geared to visitors; Santa Caterina is smaller, quieter and used more by locals doing their weekly shop, which makes for a good contrast on the same tour.
Is there vegetarian food included in the tastings?
Both markets and the final restaurant stop have vegetarian options, and your guide can steer tastings toward those if you mention it at the start.
